RAMALLAH, Palestine, Dec 6 (NNN-XINHUA) - The Palestinian Authority (PA) condemned, on Wednesday, the Israeli demolition of a school in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and called on the world to bear its responsibilities towards "the endless daily Israeli violations."

The PA Ministry of Higher Education in Ramallah said, the international community "should bear its responsibilities towards the Israeli violations against the Palestinian education establishments in the West Bank."

Earlier, the Israeli military authorities demolished a school called, the al-Tahadi 13 (Challenge 13) school, in the city and declared the area of the school "a closed military zone," according to Palestinian media reports.

"The demolition of the school interprets the real meaning of the organised terror, practised by Israel, against educational establishments, and represents an awful crime, added to the series of escalating measures against education," said the statement.

The school was demolished just a few days before its inauguration in the Palestinian city, said the statement, adding, "demolishing the school before opening it won't break our pupils' determination to carry on."

Muhanad Masalameh, the public relations coordinator in the governorate of Hebron, said, Israeli army bulldozers demolished the school that was scheduled to be opened within the coming two days, adding that, the school consists of seven classes.

The PA built the school in area (C), which is under Israeli jurisdiction, and the aim of building a school in the area was to enable pupils living in devastated areas, to receive a proper education, he said.

Meanwhile, the PA's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to act properly, and as immediately as possible, "to protect the Palestinian people from the endless daily Israeli violations and its aggressive policies against them."

Israel claimed that the school was demolished because it was built on a territory that is under its full control, and the school was built without requesting a permission from the Israeli authorities.-- NNN-XINHUA
