CAMBODIA'S GARMENT, FOOTWEAR EXPORTS UP 7 PCT LAST YEAR

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia April 21 (NNN-Xinhua) -- Garment and footwear industry, Cambodia's largest income earner, has seen a 7-percent growth in exports in 2016, according to the data of the General Department of Customs and Excise on Friday.

The Southeast Asian country exported apparel and footwear products in equivalent to 7.3 billion U.S. dollars last year, up 7 percent from 6.8 billion U.S. dollars in a year earlier, the data said.

Garment and footwear products accounted for 74 percent of the country's total export, and key markets for the products are Europe, the United States, and Canada.

The garment and footwear sector consists of around 1,000 factories with approximately 754,000 workers, according to the Labor Ministry.--NNN-XINHUA
