KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) —\u00a0 The first day of\u00a0the Third Meeting of the Third Session of the 14th\u00a0Parliament began here today with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun\u00a0advising all members of Parliament (MP) to set\u00a0aside their political differences and disputes and play\u00a0their part in\u00a0curbing\u00a0the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also reminded all MPs, both from the ruling and\u00a0opposition parties, to unite on\u00a0the matter, for the safety and wellbeing of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fight to control COVID-19 transmission in the whole world including Malaysia is not yet over and it has affected many people, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI call on all of you, regardless of backgrounds, especially political ideologies, to put away all differences and disputes and\u00a0to be united in playing your\u00a0respective\u00a0roles and help the government as well as\u00a0the authorities\u00a0in curbing COVID-19,\u201d he said, adding that this was in line with the advice of Malaysia’s King, Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah\u00a0recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech, Azhar also said he was informed of the precautionary measures to be taken (throughout the sitting), including distributing the standard operating procedure details to all MPs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said all MPs from Sabah also needed to undergo the 14-day quarantine prior to the sitting following the current COVID-19 situation in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged all parties to pray for the COVID-19 outbreak to be fully brought under control soon\u00a0and not further endanger\u00a0the country and the\u00a0Dewan Rakyat sitting could be carried out as usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
