PUTRAJAYA, Oct 28 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A total of 801 new COVID-19 cases were recorded today, of which 81 per cent was contributed by states placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), said Health director-general\u00a0Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said 546 cases were from Sabah, while states in the Klang Valley recorded 103 cases, with 89 in Selangor and 14 in Kuala Lumpur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The other cases were recorded in Negeri Sembilan (24 cases), Labuan (29), Sarawak (27), Penang (19), Perak (six), Johor (eight), Kedah (28) and Terengganu (11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the cases, two were imported cases detected in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur involving a Malaysian and a foreigner arriving from Iran and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis brings the cumulative\u00a0tally for positive cases to 29,411\u00a0while the number of active cases with infectivity potential stands at\u00a010,123. All the patients have been isolated and given treatment,\u201d he said\u00a0at a press conference\u00a0on the development of COVID-19 here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Noor Hisham said there were 573 recoveries today, taking the cumulative recovery tally to 19,072 or 64.8 per cent of the total number of cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are 94 cases currently being treated in the intensive care unit, with 25 requiring ventilator assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said there were also eight new fatalities today, taking the COVID-19 death toll in Malaysia to 246 or 0.8 per cent of the total number of cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
