CANBERRA, Oct 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Australia and Singapore have committed to collaborate on the development of new technology, to reduce carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Angus Taylor, Australia’s Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, today signed a memorandum of understanding, on low-emissions technology, with Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s Trade and Industry Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Technological progress is the only way to reduce emissions, while continuing to grow our economies and maintain reliable and affordable energy,” Taylor said. “Our cooperation is a practical demonstration of our ambition, to drive down the cost of technologies that will support jobs, lower energy costs and reduce emissions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Australian government’s Technology Investment Roadmap for reducing carbon emissions, which was released by Taylor in Sept, identified hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS), soil carbon, storage options and “low carbon” steel and aluminium, as priority technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deal follows agreements with South Korea and Japan, to investigate the potential for Australia to supply those countries with hydrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
