KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (NNN-BERNAMA) — There is no necessity now to declare emergency in the country, Malaysia’s King, Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said His Majesty Sultan Abdullah had stated that the decision had been made after due consideration and discussion with the Malay Rulers on the proposal presented by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as well as after taking into account the situation faced by the country presently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSultan Abdullah is of the view that there is no need to declare an emergency in the country or any other part of Malaysia for now,” Ahmad Fadil said in a statement from the Istana Negara (national palace).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The King had also expressed that the current government has been succesfully and effectively handling the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis Majesty greatly believes in the government\u2019s capability under the leadership of the Prime Minister to continue implementing policies and enforcement actions to curb the spread of COVID-19,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmad Fadil said Al-Sultan Abdullah had studied the request submitted by Muhyiddin at the Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan, Pahang on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The request was made under Article 150(1) of the Emergency Ordinance and Proclamation of the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2020, in accordance with Article 150(2B) of the Federal Constitution in combating the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmad Fadil said the King also reminded politicians to immediately stop the politicking which could destabilise the country and called on the Members of Parliament to not continue with actions that could threaten the stability of the current government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis Majesty stressed that the Budget 2021 to be tabled at the sitting of Parliament was very important to the people in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and reviving the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThus, a financial allocation is much needed by the frontliners to smoothen their tasks and responsibilities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmad Fadil said the King was very concerned about the people worrying over the sudden emergence of several new clusters and the spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Sultan Abdullah, however, expressed confidence that with a high level of unity and fighting spirit as had been demonstrated together before, all parties would once again be strongly united, this time fighting the third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn this regard, His Majesty called on the people regardless of their background and political ideology, to put aside their differences and quarrels so as to unite and play their role in helping the government and relevant authorities curb the spread of COVID-19 for everyone\u2019s safety and the country\u2019s prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 His Majesty also called on the people to pray that the COVID-19 pandemic could be combated effectively and end soon, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Special Meeting of the Malay Rulers took place for almost three hours at Istana Negara, here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was held to study and consider the proposals presented last Friday by Muhyiddin and a number of accompanying cabinet ministers to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
