{"id":97995,"date":"2020-10-22T21:33:42","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T13:33:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=97995"},"modified":"2020-10-22T21:33:44","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T13:33:44","slug":"thailand-lifts-emergency-decree-in-bangkok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=97995","title":{"rendered":"Thailand lifts emergency decree in Bangkok"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Linda Khoo Hui Li<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BANGKOK, Oct 22 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0Thailand today lifted the Serious Emergency Situation in Bangkok after more than a week of daily anti-government protests in Bangkok and other cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement, published in the Royal Gazette, &nbsp;stated that&nbsp;the emergency measures banning public gathering of five people or more, and publication of news and other online messages that could affect national security,&nbsp;are revoked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said the situation that led to the announcement of the Serious&nbsp; Emergency&nbsp; Situation in Bangkok has eased and ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe situation can be enforced by government officials under regular laws,\u201d it added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oct 15, Prayuth declared a \u2018Serious Emergency Situation in Bangkok\u2019&nbsp;in a bid to end three months of student-led street protests&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protesters repeated their demands for political change, including for the prime minister to step down, the dissolution of Parliament, rewriting of the Constitution, and to bring reform&nbsp;to the monarchy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cabinet on Tuesday approved the holding of&nbsp;a special parliamentary session to discuss the on-going anti-government protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, Prayuth&nbsp;said he &#8220;is preparing\u201d to lift the state of emergency in Bangkok \u201cpromptly if there are no violent incidents\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;NNN-BERNAMA\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Linda Khoo Hui Li BANGKOK, Oct 22 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0Thailand today lifted the Serious Emergency Situation in Bangkok after more than a week of daily anti-government protests in Bangkok and other cities.
