KUCHING, Oct 7 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Starting Oct 1, the Brunei Darussalam government has imposed a Service Charge\u00a0(CaP) and introduced a Frequent Commuters\u00a0Pass (FCP) for travellers crossing its land borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Consulate of Brunei Darussalam in Sarawak in a statement today said a CaP of B$3 (about RM9.16) is imposed on each individual every time they cross the Sarawak-Brunei land border post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBruneian, Malaysian and foreign nationals who travel frequently at least 15 times a month for work and\/or schooling purposes are eligible to apply for FCP. This pass can be applied for online through the portal of the Prime Minister’s Department of Brunei Darussalam (www.pmo.gov.bn\/travelportal),\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FCP rate for employees is B$50 (about RM152.70) per person for a validity period of one month, B$150 (about RM458.07) for three months and B$300 (about RM916.23) for six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While for students, the FCP rate is B$30 (about RM91.62) for a validity period of one month, B$90 (about RM274.87) for three months and B$180 (about RM549.74) for six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CaP exemption will be given to vehicles owned by the Malaysian government or the Sarawak state government for official use, as well as to fire engines, ambulances and police, hearse vehicles; and children aged two years and under.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement, applications for CaP exemption for special cases can be applied through the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
