{"id":94872,"date":"2020-10-02T12:39:05","date_gmt":"2020-10-02T04:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=94872"},"modified":"2020-10-02T12:39:06","modified_gmt":"2020-10-02T04:39:06","slug":"japanese-film-festival-to-make-a-comeback-in-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=94872","title":{"rendered":"Japanese film festival to make a comeback in October"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0The Japanese Film Festival 2020 (JFF 2020), which enters its 17th edition this year, is set to make a comeback and light up selected Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement by the Japan Foundation,&nbsp;Kuala Lumpur (JFKL), JFF 2020&nbsp;will be the first film festival to be launched at GSC since the commencement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) back in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the successful pre-festival event held last month at GSC NU Sentral, a dedicated page on the official JFF 2020 website will be launched in early October to introduce the works of Japanese filmmakers who remotely produced short films during the lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A video interview with director Yukisada Isao, director of \u201cPigeon\u201d (2016) that was shot in Penang as part of the omnibus film &#8220;Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2016: Reflections&#8221;, will also be published on the page, added the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-organised with the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, JFF 2020 will showcase 10 titles comprising a&nbsp;variety of genres \u2013&nbsp;drama, comedy, action and animation, highlighting the colours of Japan through cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the titles, \u201cOne Summer Story\u201d, will be premiering in Malaysia prior to the release in Japan, which is expected to be released in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough JFF 2020, both GSC and JFKL encourage everyone to visit the cinema once again and enjoy movies on the big screen while adapting to the new normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAudience will also get special gifts by collecting stamps every time they watch a film at JFF,\u201d said JFKL in the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the&nbsp;film lineup for JFF 2020&nbsp;will screen at GSC cinemas at Nu Sentral, 1Utama and Mid Valley (Oct 15-21);&nbsp;Penang\u2019s Gurney Plaza (Oct 22-25); Johor Bahru\u2019s Paradigm Mall JB (Oct 29 &#8211; Nov 1);&nbsp;and Kota Kinabalu\u2019s Suria Sabah and Kuching\u2019s CityONE Megamall (Nov 12-15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement further said that after wrapping up the east Malaysia tour, the season will continue with \u201cJFF Plus: Online Festival\u201d, scheduled to be&nbsp;held online in late November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the films will be&nbsp;presented in Japanese with English subtitles.&nbsp;A complete listings of film synopses, showtimes and general information are available at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jfkl.org.my\/events\/jff-2020\/\">https:\/\/www.jfkl.org.my\/events\/jff-2020\/<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/gsc.com.my\/\">http:\/\/gsc.com.my<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0The Japanese Film Festival 2020 (JFF 2020), which enters its 17th edition this year, is set to make a comeback and light up selected Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) nationwide.
