{"id":93886,"date":"2020-09-25T16:10:47","date_gmt":"2020-09-25T08:10:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=93886"},"modified":"2020-09-25T16:10:49","modified_gmt":"2020-09-25T08:10:49","slug":"thailands-hospital-network-eyes-more-chinese-patients-when-covid-19-ebbs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=93886","title":{"rendered":"Thailand&#8217;s Hospital Network Eyes More Chinese Patients When COVID-19 Ebbs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By Linda Khoo Hui Li<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BANGKOK, Sept 25 (Bernama) &#8212; Bangkok Dusit Medical Services\n(BDMS), Thailand\u2019s largest private hospital network, is eyeing more Chinese\npatients to seek medical services when the COVID-19 pandemic ebbs and air\ntravel resumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its senior vice-president of international marketing,\ncorporate advertising and public relations, Buranut Limjitti said Thailand is a\nmajor hub for medical tourism and attracts between three and&nbsp;four million\nmedical tourists every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said BDMS, which has 47 hospitals in Thailand and two\nhospitals in Cambodia, receives 70 per cent Thai patients and 30 per cent\nforeign patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At present, Chinese patients account for about one to\ntwo&nbsp;per cent of total foreign patients, the fifth largest group behind the\nMiddle East, Japan, Myanmar and Scandinavia in BDMS, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To tap into the Chinese market, he said BDMS has partnered\nwith China\u2019s largest internet healthcare platform, Ping An Good Doctor, a\none-stop healthcare ecosystem covering online medical services, consumer\nhealthcare services, a health mall, as well as health management and wellness\ninteraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, BDMS partnered with Ping An Insurance (Group)\nCompany of China Ltd,&nbsp;offering Ping An Policyholders various medical care,\nincluding health check-up, cancer screening and treatment programmes,\northopaedic services, hip replacement surgery, as well as a variety of\ncardiovascular procedures and neurological services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ping An Good Doctor, a world-leading technology-powered\nretail financial services group has more than 210 million retail customers and\n560 million internet users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith this strategic partnership, BDMS and Ping An Good\nDoctor will continue to design healthcare packages for Ping An members,\u201d he\ntold Bernama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BDMS network comprises 49 hospitals across six major groups\n&#8212;&nbsp;Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej Hospital, BNH Hospital, Phyathai Hospital,\nPaola Hospital in Bangkok, and Royal Hospital Group in Cambodia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year, about 1.5 to two&nbsp;million international\npatients seek treatment at BDMS network hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buranut said&nbsp;BDMS and Ping An Good Doctor\noffer&nbsp;overseas health check-up, specially tailored for Chinese patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients can make appointments through Ping An Good Doctor\u2019s\napplication via video consultations with doctors in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBDMS has MoUs with Ping An Health Insurance and Ping An\nGood Doctor (the e-platform). They are&nbsp;two&nbsp;different companies.
