KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) — Malaysia\u2019s\nForeign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has revealed that many foreign\nleaders are voicing their concern over the political situation in the country,\nespecially in the context of curbing the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the current political turmoil in Malaysia did not\nhelp project the country\u2019s real image to the rest of the world, more so when\nthe government is working to forge various forms of collaboration, especially\nin fighting COVID-19 and reviving the domestic economy, with other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hishammuddin also said that Malaysians were already burdened\nby economic issues and the pandemic, with some having lost their jobs and\nfamily members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s not add to their burden with political issues. We\nmust also remember, if the political situation in the country continues to be\nunstable, efforts being implemented by the government for the people all these\nmonths will be in vain,\u201d he said in a statement Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Wednesday, Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim claimed\nthat he had a \u201cformidable and convincing\u201d support from MPs to take over the\ngovernment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hishammuddin also urged all Cabinet ministers and government\nMPs to give their full support to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s not become important government officials, enjoying\nthe perks that are given but don\u2019t support the leadership. This is a reminder\nto all appointed ministers, deputy ministers and heads of government-linked\ncorporations (GLCs),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that if any government official did not support\nthe existing leadership, they should withdraw from the government so that\nefforts to rebuild the nation could be continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hishammuddin described Anwar\u2019s claim as an effort to confuse\nand cause concern among the people on the stability of the Federal Government\nahead of the east Malaysian state Sabah\u2019s election this Saturday (Sept\n26).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
