KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The number of new COVID-19 cases rose to three figures today, with 182 cases, the highest in last few months after recording 100 cases on Sept 8, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said of the 182 new cases, 181 were local transmissions involving 90 Malaysians and 91 foreigners while one was an imported case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The imported case reported in Selangor involved a Filipino citizen,” he said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This brings the total number of positive cases to 9,810, including 501 active cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 14\u00a0cases of recovery and no COVID-19-related deaths today, therefore the\u00a0cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia remained at 128.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, Dr Noor Hisham said nine patients were being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with five on respiratory assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On active clusters, he said the Benteng LD Cluster in Sabah recorded 167 new cases today bringing the total to 250.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“All new cases were recorded in Tawau with 76 cases involving Malaysian citizens including 70 cases involving prisoners and six cases involving the public detected through close contact screening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“While the remaining 91 cases were non-citizens from the Philippines (61 cases) and Indonesia (30 cases),” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, for the Sungai Cluster in Kedah, there was an increase of 11 cases today bringing the total of positive cases to 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Telaga Cluster, three new cases were detected today bringing the total number of cases to 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Noor Hisham added that the current situation in the areas put under administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be informed from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So far, the administrative EMCO is running smoothly and the cooperation of the local community is very good,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
