SEREMBAN, Sept 4 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Coroner\u2019s Court here was today told that 29 premises, including private resorts, were inspected by the Negeri Sembilan Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) for clues on the location of Irish-French teenager Nora Anne Quoirin who went missing on Aug 4, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ampang Jaya district police deputy chief Superintendent Mohd Azam Ismail, who is the 14th witness in the inquest proceedings to determine the actual cause of the teenager\u2019s death, said they included seven villas at the Shorea resort, which is located near the Dusun Resort where Nora Anne and her family were staying upon their arrival in Malaysia on Aug 3, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the police also inspected five private villas, four of which were occupied, and nine private premises and resorts, with only five of them were occupied.here five were occupied and four were not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe also inspect the eight villas at The Dusun Resort, including the one occupied by the resort owner,\u201d he said when testifying on the eighth day of the proceedings before Coroner Maimoonah Aid today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To a question from Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad, who is also the inquest coordinating officer, on other instructions given to him in the investigation, Mohd Azam, who was then the Negeri Sembilan JSJ\u2019s Serious Crimes staff officer, said his team was also instructed to interview the Forestry Department officers at the foot of Gunung Berembun for any indication on the teenager\u2019s location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut, we were informed that the missing person did not enter the area,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohd Azam told the court that his his team was also tasked to investigate the background of Nora Anne\u2019s family members, as well as to profile the witnesses, including former guests, especially who stayed at the resort prior to the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe profiling involved the family of the complainant (Dusun Resort manager Haanim Ahmed Bamadhaj), employees and former employees of the resort, locals who were in the vicinity of the resort on the day of the incident and those who had stayed at The Dusun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe profiling (was done) because we did not have other leads to proceed with the investigations, thus we made profiling on all the witnesses to get new information on individuals based on information, such as criminal records, vehicle records and their backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHowever there was no indication (of new leads),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To a question from Coroner Maimoonah on the outcome of the investigations on Nora Anne\u2019s parents, Mohd Azam said he found that they had no criminal records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inquest proceedings started on Aug 24 until Aug 27 and continued from Aug 1 until today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 64 witnesses will be called to testify, with 14 of them having already testified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nora Anne, 15, went missing on Aug 4 last year, a day after she and her family arrived in Malaysia for a two-week holiday at a resort in Pantai here, about 60 km south of Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nora Anne\u2019s body was found nine days later on Aug 13, near a stream in a hilly area, about 2.5 km from the resort, following a massive search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A preliminary post-mortem report revealed there were no criminal elements in Nora Anne\u2019s death and that the teenager had died of gastrointestinal bleeding, due to prolonged stress and hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coroner Maimoonah today adjourned the proceeding to Sept 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
