File photo courtesy of BERNAMA.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0The Johor\u00a0state government will further\u00a0improve its\u00a0tourism development plan within 10 years, to include\u00a0tourism in its\u00a0islands\u00a0to boost the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee chairman&nbsp;Onn Hafiz Ghazi said each district in Johor&nbsp;has its own tourist attractions, and some of them include beautiful islands located in Mersing district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said both the planning stage and the launch are&nbsp;expected to take place next year so that the state will have a direction in the tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;\u2019Actually, we in Johor had tourism plans previously. So now&nbsp;we will continue with improvements for the long term so that tourists to this state will always have a reference to the interesting places here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This long-term planning also covers all&nbsp;districts in the state. It&nbsp;has the cooperation of the federal government to develop existing tourism products as well as those with potential to be developed,&#8221; he said here Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said this during the send-off ceremony for the Johor Majestic Famtrip&nbsp;delegation comprising media members. The event was also attended by Johor Tourism deputy-director Afzan Azhari and Johor Media Club president Mohd Fauzi Ishak at the Johor Tourism Information Centre here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onn Hafiz said the&nbsp;Johor Majestic Famtrip&nbsp;is aimed at promoting&nbsp;the islands, especially in Mersing district which has 93 islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the familiarisation trip, attended by 23 media practitioners from&nbsp;today till&nbsp;Friday, will be visiting several islands in Mersing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAmong the islands to&nbsp;be visited include Pulau Aur, Pulau Dayang, Pulau Pemanggil, Pulau Besar, Pulau Rawa, Pulau Harimau and several others which&nbsp;have their own attractions.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from that, the media will also&nbsp;visit tourist attractions in Kota Tinggi district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We also hope that with the&nbsp;media\u2019s participation, we will be able to promote and boost tourism in Johor and the state will become an international tourist&nbsp;&nbsp;destination,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0The Johor\u00a0state government will further\u00a0improve its\u00a0tourism development plan within 10 years, to include\u00a0tourism in its\u00a0islands\u00a0to boost the sector.
