PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29 (NNN-BERNAMA) \u2014\u00a0Malaysia’s King Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah\u2019s\u00a0royal address is expected to be the focus\u00a0of Malaysia’s National Day (Merdeka Day) celebration\u00a0this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Communications and Multimedia Minister\u00a0Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said this would be\u00a0only the second time in the history of Merdeka Day celebrations that the\u00a0King\u00a0will be delivering a Royal Address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first was by the fourth\u00a0King,\u00a0Almarhum Tuanku Ismail Nasiruddin Shah\u00a050 years ago during the royal proclamation of the\u00a0Rukun Negara on Merdeka Day, Saifuddin told reporters after checking on the National Day 2020 celebration rehearsal here today.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Day celebration this year, with the theme \u2018Malaysia Prihatin\u2019 (Malaysia Cares) will be held at Dataran Pahlawan, Precinct 1 here on Aug 31. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah\u00a0have consented to grace the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saifuddin said he was satisfied with preparations so far, which he added were progressing quite well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInsyaallah, let us pray that all events will run smoothly as planned,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said this year\u2019s celebration will be held on a modest scale to comply with the new normal as part of efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Day 2020 celebration will also be telecast live by local television stations, Saifuddin added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
