Three of them were local transmissions and the other two imported cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that for the three local transmissions, they involved three Malaysians, namely two pre-surgical screening cases at the Terendak Camp Armed Forces Hospital and one symptomatic screening case at the same hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said this brought the total number of positive cases to 9,296 and the number of active cases with infectivity to 177.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTwo imported cases were reported in Selangor, having been infected abroad, namely, in the Philippines and Egypt, also involving Malaysians,\u201d he said in a press conference on the development of COVID-19 here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that there were 16 cases which had recovered from COVID-19 today, bringing the cumulative number of cases that had fully recovered to 8,994 cases (96.8 per cent of the total cases).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo date, there are eight COVID-19 positive cases being treated in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which six cases require respiratory assistance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Noor Hisham said that there was no increase in COVID-19 related deaths reported today, therefore, the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia remained at 125 which is 1.34 per cent of the total number of cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the Tawar Cluster, he said no new cases were reported today, and the number of positive COVID-19 cases linked to the cluster remained at 73.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Malaysia continued to record new positive COVID-19 cases in single digit, with five new cases today.
