{"id":82095,"date":"2020-07-05T20:32:17","date_gmt":"2020-07-05T12:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=82095"},"modified":"2020-07-05T20:47:54","modified_gmt":"2020-07-05T12:47:54","slug":"malaysia-records-five-new-covid-19-cases-recoveries-at-97-percent-health-dg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=82095","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia records five new COVID-19 cases, recoveries at  97 percent &#8211; Health DG"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, July 5\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Malaysia today, bringing the cumulative figure to 8,663 cases, said Health director-general\u00a0Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said four more cases had recovered and been discharged as of noon today, raising&nbsp;the total number of recoveries to 8,465, or&nbsp;97.7 per cent of the cumulative figure for cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;number of active cases with infectivity was 77, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOf the five new cases, three are imported cases involving two Malaysians and one foreigner, while the other two cases are local transmissions involving Malaysians,\u201d he said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"755\" src=\"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Covid-5-Julai-ENG-1024x755.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82099\" srcset=\"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Covid-5-Julai-ENG-1024x755.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Covid-5-Julai-ENG-300x221.jpg 300w, http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Covid-5-Julai-ENG-768x566.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the two local transmission cases, Dr Noor Hisham said they were detected during pre-surgery screenings,\u00a0at the\u00a0Queen Elizabeth Hospital in\u00a0Sabah and a medical centre in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Noor Hisham said no fatalities had been reported since June 15, keeping the death toll at 121, or 1.39 per cent of the total number of cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said only two positive cases were being treated in the intensive care unit and both were on ventilator support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also announced the closure of two residential clusters today &#8212; the&nbsp;Gombak Cluster and&nbsp;Cheras Flats Cluster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Gombak Cluster was reported on May 18,&nbsp;2020 following active case detection of COVID-19 positive cases at some&nbsp;quarters in Gombak. As of&nbsp;July 4,&nbsp;a total of 200 people have been screened and five positive cases detected involving Malaysians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0 Cheras Flats Cluster was reported on June 1,\u00a02020 following active case detection of positive COVID-19 cases at some\u00a0flats in\u00a0Cheras. As of July\u00a04,\u00a0a total of 144 people have been screened and eight found to be positive. This cluster has a\u00a0positive case involving an Indonesian while the rest are Malaysians,\u201d\u00a0said Dr Noor Hisham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the first cases for both clusters were detected during screening of tahfiz students, who were identified to be among the high-risk groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The targeted approach adopted by the Health Ministry (MOH) had helped to detect many COVID-19 cases in the country, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to announce that the investigations conducted show that no other positive COVID-19 cases were found in the two affected tahfiz centres,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Noor Hisham thanked all those involved in detecting cases and curbing the spread of the coronavirus&nbsp;at the two clusters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, July 5\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Malaysia today, bringing the cumulative figure to 8,663 cases, said Health director-general\u00a0Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
