Photo courtesy of BERNAMA.<br><br><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>NEW DELHI, Feb 8 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; India on Friday said it supports a &#8220;safe and speedy&#8221; of return of Myanmar&#8217;s Rohingya refugees living in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue was discussed during a meeting between Bangladesh Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen and Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Swaraj appreciated the humanitarian gesture of Bangladesh in supporting a large number of displaced persons from the Rakhine region and assured Abdul Momen of &#8220;India&#8217;s continued support for safe, speedy and sustainable return of the displaced persons to Myanmar,&#8221; according to a joint statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bangladesh hosts more than a million Rohingya refugees, who have fled violence and persecution in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abdul Momen, making his first foreign visit since assuming office, discussed a range of bilateral matters, including cooperation in space science, nuclear energy, information technology and electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two countries signed memoranda of understanding for cooperation between the Anti-Corruption Commission of Bangladesh and India&#8217;s Central Bureau of Investigation, and for India providing training to 1,800 Bangladeshi civil servants.<br>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW DELHI, Feb 8 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; India on Friday said it supports a &#8220;safe and speedy&#8221; of return of Myanmar&#8217;s Rohingya refugees living in Bangladesh.
