{"id":74301,"date":"2020-05-14T07:38:05","date_gmt":"2020-05-13T23:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=74301"},"modified":"2020-05-14T07:41:15","modified_gmt":"2020-05-13T23:41:15","slug":"thailand-to-partner-with-un-agency-to-cut-co2-emission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=74301","title":{"rendered":"Thailand To Partner With UN Agency To Cut CO2 Emission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>BANGKOK, May 14 (NNN-TNA) &#8211; Thailand&#8217;s Ministry of Industry revealed that, the Thai Cabinet already rubber-stamped a multi-billion-baht project with the United Nations to tackle Thailand&#8217;s increasing air pollution problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Industrial Works, under the Ministry of Industry, will be tasked to work with the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), in a five-year programme to cut emissions of industrial greenhouse gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will apply principles of mutual benefit by using environmentally friendly chemical products or by-products, from certain industries to benefit other industries or nearby communities, the ministry explained, in a press release statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including persistent organic pollutants (POP&#8217;s) and other harmful chemicals, from industrial and urban communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is backed by funding of 8.966 million U.S. dollars from the World Environment Fund, with Thai government agencies and participating businesses contributing a further 120 million U.S. dollars to finance the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has a duration of five years, from 2020 to 2024.
