{"id":7329,"date":"2019-02-07T07:50:26","date_gmt":"2019-02-06T23:50:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=7329"},"modified":"2019-02-12T07:49:40","modified_gmt":"2019-02-11T23:49:40","slug":"turkey-istanbul-apartment-block-collapse-shocks-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=7329","title":{"rendered":"Turkey: Istanbul apartment block collapse shocks Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Istanbul,  Feb 7 (NNN- AGENCIES) \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0 At least two people were killed when a seven-story building on Istanbul\u2019s Asian side collapsed, authorities said Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said seven people, including one in critical condition, were rescued from the rubble.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 9-year-old boy and 2 others were still under rubble of the building in Kartal district and rescue work are ongoing, Yerlikaya added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turkish parliament speaker Binali Yildirim, who went to the site, told reporters rescue teams have made contact with four victims in the rubble.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur friends are making an extraordinary effort to get them out safely,\u201d he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said as a precaution, people living in the next building were evacuated due to possible damage caused by the collapse.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zeki Dag, the local administrator of the neighborhood, said 15 residents are thought to be under the rubble.
