KUALA LUMPUR, \u00a0April 6 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The public should stop blaming the police for the traffic congestion due to roadblocks mounted to ensure compliance to the Movement Control Order (MCO), said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the public is expected to comply with the MCO regulations which are enforced to limit the people\u2019s movement to break the chain of the COVID-19 infection in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to set up roadblocks across the country to curb the spread of COVID-19, as well as restrict the people\u2019s movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI advise the public, for those who are not in the list of the essential service sector to understand the MCO regulations and that they have to go through the roadblocks,\u201d he said when met by Bernama at Bukit Aman here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the event of traffic congestion during a roadblock, the public should be patient as the police are doing their job to ensure that only those allowed to leave home pass through, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe people should not complain about trivial issues such as traffic congestion of 10 to 15 minutes on highways or in the town centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey should think about the\u00a0traffic congestion on highways and in Kuala Lumpur before MCO is enforced…don\u2019t blame the roadblocks (during MCO) for the traffic congestion now,\u201d he said, expressing regret over the attitude of some members of the public criticising the police for the roadblocks being mounted nationwide in line with MCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abdul Hamid also said he had gone on the grounds to see his men at work during roadblocks and that he had advised them to be patient and carry out work professionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said his men showed a high level of patience in dealing with the prevailing situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The public should remember that my men, members of the armed forces and from other authorities who are on duty at roadblocks are also exposed to the risk of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey are all working to help stop the spread of COVID-19,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
