{"id":67653,"date":"2020-03-30T00:49:14","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T16:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=67653"},"modified":"2020-03-30T00:49:18","modified_gmt":"2020-03-29T16:49:18","slug":"79-stranded-malaysians-in-songkhla-allowed-to-return-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=67653","title":{"rendered":"79 stranded Malaysians in Songkhla allowed to return home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SONGKHLA, March 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; A total of 79 Malaysians who were stranded in southern Thailand have been\u00a0allowed to return home today, said Consul General of Malaysia in Songkhla Muhammad Ridzuan Abu Yazid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Songkhla Provincial Governor Jaruwat Kliangklao had given permission for the group of Malaysians, who had been travelling and visiting relatives in southern Thailand, to leave the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are allowed to leave via the Sadao-Bukit Kayu Hitam border from 3 pm (local time) today (Sunday) until 9.30 pm tomorrow (Monday),\u201d he told Bernama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Thai government, beginning March 23, has closed all nine border gates with Malaysia&nbsp;until further notice, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similar closure has also been implemented at all Thai borders&nbsp;with other neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this temporary closure, all Thai and foreign nationals are not allowed to leave or enter Thailand, through&nbsp;land and sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muhammad Ridzuan said there were still some Malaysians stranded in Narathiwat and Yala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are still waiting for the permission from the governors in both regions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muhammad Ridzuan also expressed his gratitude to the local authorities for helping out stranded Malaysians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SONGKHLA, March 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; A total of 79 Malaysians who were stranded in southern Thailand have been\u00a0allowed to return home today, said Consul General of Malaysia in Songkhla Muhammad Ridzuan Abu Yazid.
