{"id":65135,"date":"2020-03-09T13:32:07","date_gmt":"2020-03-09T05:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=65135"},"modified":"2020-03-09T14:20:15","modified_gmt":"2020-03-09T06:20:15","slug":"azam-baki-is-malaysias-new-anti-graft-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=65135","title":{"rendered":"Azam Baki is Malaysia&#8217;s new anti-graft chief"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0Datuk Seri Azam Baki has been appointed as the new Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) effective today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO), in a statement, said the King, Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had consented to Azam\u2019s appointment in accordance with subsection 5(1) of the MACC Act 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Azam previously served as MACC&#8217;s Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0The statement also said that Sultan Abdullah had consented to\u00a0Latheefa Koya\u2019s request to shorten her contract as MACC chief commissioner effective today (March 9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe government would like to express its highest gratitude to&nbsp;Latheefa for her service during her tenure as the MACC chief commissioner,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 6,&nbsp;Latheefa&nbsp;confirmed that&nbsp;she had tendered her resignation to Prime Minister&nbsp;Muhyiddin Yassin on March 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement to the media, Latheefa said that the resignation was her own decision and speculation that pressure was brought upon her to do so was baseless.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212;\u00a0Datuk Seri Azam Baki has been appointed as the new Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) effective today.
