KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) — Several meetings involving political parties from both sides of the divide have been taking place since early today amid talk of possible realignment in the country’s political landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All these meetings drew intense media attention but the discussions were held behind closed doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) held a special meeting at the party headquarters at Menara Yayasan Selangor in Petaling Jaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was chaired by Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who declined to comment when reporters swarmed around the 94-year-old prime minister as he left the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joining Dr Mahathir at the meeting were Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir; secretary-general Datuk Marzuki Yahya; and Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and several PKR leaders aligned to him huddled in discussion at a hotel in Petaling Jaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
UMNO, meanwhile, convened its special supreme council meeting at the headquarters of the opposition party at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also learnt that several MPs from political parties in Sarawak were also in town for a meeting at a hotel in the federal capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Parti Warisan Sabah president cum Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was also seen entering a lift at the hotel, along with several other individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was not clear whether the Sabah leaders had joined those from Sarawak at their meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Istana Negara was also a hive of activity as many vehicles were seen entering the palace this evening, some with police escort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
