BANGKOK, Feb 7 (NNN-BERNAMA) \u2013 The chore\u00a0of removing dirt and tough stains has\u00a0been made easier with the invention of a multi-functional cleaner\u00a0made from a plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A group of students from Sekolah Menengah Agama Atas Sultan Zainal Abidin, Kuala Terengganu, have come up with an award-winning invention to remove dirt from fruit sap, oil, permanent markers, paint, cellophane\u2019s tape remnants and rust on various surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nurul Aisyah Mustaffa, Muhammad Aqil Zakwan Wan Muhammad Faidzal, Nur Anis Farzana Abdul Malik, Che Nur Amni Che Rusdi and Miszairiyanti Misnun won the gold medal in recognition of their creativity to invent the AVER Clean Liquid at the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEX 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Nurul Aisyah, Nur Anis Farzana and Muhammad Aqil also won the Special Award from President of World Women Inventors and Entrepreneurs Association, Mi-Young Han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students and their teacher, Saripah Embong, invented the eco-friendly multi-functional cleaner made from Averrhoa bilimbi Linn, which is popularly known as starfruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere are a lot of cleaning products that contain sodium laureth sulfate which can be found in dish washing liquid, hand sanitizers, stove cleaners as well as cleaning detergents. Some may use ethanol, thinner and turpentine to remove tough stains. These are harmful to health and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAVER Clean Liquid is a natural antibacterial liquid with natural fragrant and foaming agent. It is suitable as a hand sanitizer and dish-washing liquid as it does not harm the hands and skin,\u201d Saripah told Bernama here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AVER Clean Liquid was among 32 inventions and products that were awarded the Gold Medal at the IPITEX 2020 held the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) here in conjunction with Thailand\u2019s Inventors\u2019 Day on Feb 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 1,000 inventions and products from 23 countries took part in the annual IPITEX. It is a platform for young inventors to showcase their untapped potential as well as gain in-depth experience and exposure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Malaysian delegation consisting the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) and Malaysian Research and Innovation Society (MyRIS) also won 68 silver and 74 bronze medals in the annual exposition<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also received more than 34 special awards from countries and other international innovation organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the head of the MyRIS and Universiti Malaysia Perlis delegation, Prof Dr Mohd Mustafa Al Bakri Abdullah, students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Idaman Pelabuhan Klang also won the International I-New Gen Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the students, aged between 11 and 12 years, came up with the Mint Guava Leaf Tea in Pineapple Fibre Sachet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe product can control blood sugar level and cure diarrhea,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the Malaysian delegation from MINDS, Prof Dr R. Vigna Kumaran said the achievement of Malaysian young researchers is commendable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
