KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Thaipusam, a Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Muruga, will see a silver chariot procession of the deity starting from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun HS Lee, here at 10 pm this Thursday. The chariot is expected to reach Batu Caves at 3 pm on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya said road closures along the procession route would be carried out in stages and reopened after the chariot passes through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The procession will pass through Jalan Tun HS Lee; Jalan Sultan; Jalan Pudu; Jalan Tun Perak; Jalan Leboh Ampang; Jalan Ampang; Jalan Munshi Abdullah; Jalan Dang Wangi; Raja Laut Road; Jalan Ipoh; Jalan Perhentian; Jalan Ipoh; Jalan Ipoh Batu 5 before reaching the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Batu Caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chariot would make its return journey\u00a0beginning 4 pm on Sunday from Batu Caves\u00a0and is expected to arrive at Sri Maha Mariamman temple at 5 am the following morning,\u201d\u00a0he said in a statement Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the return journey would begin\u00a0from the Batu Caves Sri Subramaniar Temple and make its way via\u00a0Jalan Ipoh Batu 5; Jalan Ipoh; Jalan Perhentian; Jalan Tun Razak;\u00a0Jalan Ipoh;\u00a0Jalan Raja Laut;\u00a0Jalan Dang Wangi;\u00a0Jalan Munshi Abdullah;\u00a0Jalan Ampang;\u00a0Jalan Leboh Ampang;\u00a0Jalan Tun Perak; Jalan Sultan; Jalan Hang Kasturi; Jalan Hang Lekir before reaching the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Tun H.S. Lee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Motorists have been advised not to use the roads mentioned to avoid the anticipated traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
