{"id":60159,"date":"2020-01-29T12:26:33","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T04:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=60159"},"modified":"2020-01-29T12:34:33","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T04:34:33","slug":"libya-two-children-killed-by-shelling-near-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=60159","title":{"rendered":"Libya: Two children killed by shelling near school"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghanaweb.com\/GhanaHomePage\/africa\/Two-children-killed-by-shell-near-Libyan-school-850393?gallery=1\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/946\/94687322.295.jpg\" alt=\"File photo\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>TRIPOLI, Jan 29 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; Two children have reportedly been killed in shelling on the Libyan capital Tripoli, despite a ceasefire that was meant to come into effect earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The internationally recognised government based in the capital said that a stray shell fell near a school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It accused forces loyal to Gen Khalifa Haftar &#8211; the military commander with his power base in eastern Libya &#8211; of being responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent days have seen renewed heavy fighting between the two sides in several locations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the head of Libya&#8217;s national oil corporation has urged the United States, France and Britain to do more to stop outside powers interfering in Libya.<br><br>Mustafa Sanalla refused to name the regional powers he was referring to.<br><br>But the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Russia are supporting the forces of Gen Khalifa Haftar, while Qatar and Turkey have backed the UN-endorsed government of national unity in the west.<br><br>Sanalla said the situation in his country was becoming very dangerous and there was a risk Libya could become like a new Syria.<br><br>An oil blockade imposed ten days ago by forces loyal to General Khalifa Haftar has limited production to just 72, 000 barrels of oil a day.<br><br>Libya had been producing more than a million barrels. &#8212; NNN-AGENCIES<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TRIPOLI, Jan 29 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; Two children have reportedly been killed in shelling on the Libyan capital Tripoli, despite a ceasefire that was meant to come into effect earlier this month.
