He was named best player in the Americas in the same year\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">Former Colombian international footballer Jhon Vi\u00e1fara has been extradited to the US on drug trafficking charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <br>HOUSTON, Jan 27 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) &#8212; Former Colombian international footballer Jhon Vi\u00e1fara has been extradited to the US on drug trafficking charges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vi\u00e1fara, 41, was arrested a year ago in the Colombian city of Cali in a joint operation involving Colombian police and US Drug Enforcement agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A court in Texas says he was a member of the Gulf Clan drug cartel and helped to smuggle cocaine into Central America and the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has denied the charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2004, Jhon Vi\u00e1fara helped his club, Once Caldas, cause a major upset by winning the Copa Libertadores title.
