{"id":57667,"date":"2020-01-07T10:54:45","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T02:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=57667"},"modified":"2020-01-07T10:54:47","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T02:54:47","slug":"britains-first-post-brexit-budget-set-for-march-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=57667","title":{"rendered":"Britain\u2019s first post-Brexit budget set for March 11"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-24.jpg\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1-24.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>LONDON, Jan 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; Britain is to unveil its first post-Brexit budget on March 11, the government said, promising increased public service spending and an end to a decade of austerity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government cancelled its previous budget scheduled for Nov 6 after Prime Minister Boris Johnson called an early election to try to break parliamentary deadlock over Brexit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He won a comfortable majority last month, which is expected to see his divorce deal with Brussels passed without a hitch, taking Britain out of the European Union by the end of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finance minister Sajid Javid said the budget would \u201cunleash Britain\u2019s potential, uniting our great country, opening a new chapter for our economy and ushering in a decade of renewal\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent months, Javid has already promised billions of pounds of extra investment in the health service, schools and police, after 10 years of cuts imposed by the financial crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week the government announced a 6.2-percent increase in the minimum wage for over-25s from April 1, taking it from o8.21 an hour to o8.72 ($10.81-11.48, 9.66-10.26 euro).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Javid said he would fix new budget rules, which would likely see the country move away from its aim of keeping public sector borrowing under 2.0 percent of GDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Few other details were given but Javid said he wanted to take advantage of historically low interest rates to borrow to invest, while keeping debt under control. &#8212; NNN-AGENCIES<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON, Jan 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; Britain is to unveil its first post-Brexit budget on March 11, the government said, promising increased public service spending and an end to a decade of austerity.
