{"id":56135,"date":"2019-12-24T11:30:11","date_gmt":"2019-12-24T03:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=56135"},"modified":"2019-12-24T11:47:05","modified_gmt":"2019-12-24T03:47:05","slug":"bullets-wwii-bombs-unearthed-in-ipoh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=56135","title":{"rendered":"Bullets, WWII bombs unearthed in Ipoh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>IPOH, Dec 24\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; A total of 89 bullets\u00a0and old bombs believed to have been from WWII were discovered in the vicinity of Ipoh Cargo Terminal at Jalan St. John\u00a0here Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ipoh deputy police chief Supt Mohamad Nordin Abdullah said the discovery of the bomb at 9.30am was alerted&nbsp;by a Malayan Railway (KTM) contractor site supervisor, who was excavating the ground work for the construction of a new rail track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The complainant, who is an operations manager, then called the Ipoh District Police Headquarters for further action,&#8221; he told Bernama here Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said following the report, he went to the scene which was a railway line for a freight train and found 30 Uxo Artillery type 105 mm (mm) bombs, Anti-Personnel Land Mines type 29 bombs and 30 7.62 mm bullets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said following the discovery, the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) of the Perak Contingent Headquarters had ordered the contractor to temporarily halt the excavation work in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are also monitoring at the entrance until our work is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;And at 2pm, all the bombs were taken by members of the Perak General Operations Force (GOF)\u00a0 bomb squad to Chenderiang Field, Tapah for further action,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IPOH, Dec 24\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; A total of 89 bullets\u00a0and old bombs believed to have been from WWII were discovered in the vicinity of Ipoh Cargo Terminal at Jalan St. John\u00a0here Monday.
