{"id":48927,"date":"2019-11-04T18:18:24","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T10:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=48927"},"modified":"2019-11-04T18:29:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T10:29:00","slug":"malaysia-still-in-talks-with-goldman-sachs-over-1mdb-compensation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=48927","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia still in talks with  Goldman Sachs over 1MDB compensation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5>By Voon Miaw Ping<br><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>BANGKOK, Nov 4 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Malaysia is still in talks with Goldman Sachs on the amount of\u00a0compensation over the 1MDB scandal it expects to get from the investment bank and financial\u00a0services company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malaysian prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is here for the 35th\u00a0ASEAN Summit, disclosed that Kuala Lumpur\u00a0rejected a previous Goldman Sachs offer as it was deemed too low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve caused us to lose about US$7 billion. They may not want to pay us that amount. Their (compensation) offer is too low, because of that we have not accepted their offer,\u201d he told Malaysian media when queried on the matter here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut how much we\u2019re&nbsp;willing to accept, of course, it\u2019s based on the negotiation, out of court negotiation.
