TRIPOLI, Nov 3 (NNN-Xinhua) — The air force of Libya’s east-based army on Saturday targeted the forces of the UN-backed government in western Libya, as the armed conflict between the two rivals continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A military camp located near the western city of Zolton, some 140 west of the capital Tripoli, was targeted with more than 12 military vehicles and two tanks destroyed, the east-based army’s information office said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The air force also targeted positions of the UN-backed government’s forces 15 km east of Tripoli, the information office added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement did not reveal any details about human casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The east-based army and the UN-backed government have been fighting since early April over control of Tripoli, which is home to more than 2 million people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The violence has killed and injured thousands of people, and displaced hundreds of thousands from their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The east-based army, led by Khalifa Haftar, is allied with the east-based government, as the North African nation is politically divided between eastern and western governments. — NNN-XINHUA
