SYDNEY, Oct 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – A super hive of around 60,000 to 70,000 bees has been removed from a residential home, in the Australian city of Brisbane, after a couple noticed a buzzing sound coming from their ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We could see them on the outside where they entered, and we’ve been stung a few times, as we go down the side,” one of the owners said, while speaking with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Tuesday evening, saying, there was a humming and scratching noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lack of trees in the northern suburb is likely to be the reason why the bees moved into the couple’s home, according to beekeeper, Paul Wood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Aug, Sept and Oct are the months of spring, when the bees swarm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“They’ll park in a tree for two to three days, looking for a new home. Unfortunately, we don’t leave enough trees standing, so they choose the cavities of houses.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Predicting there could be around 10-15 kg of honey in the couples ceiling, Wood was forced to cut into the couple’s roof and vacuums up the bees into a specially designed box, which can safely transport the creatures to another more suitable hive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“If they’re in the wall, or the ceiling, your options are you call a beekeeper, to get it out, and pest control is another one, but if there’s any amount of honey in there, it’s going to destroy your ceiling.”– NNN-AGENCIES <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
