{"id":45259,"date":"2019-10-07T10:59:21","date_gmt":"2019-10-07T02:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=45259"},"modified":"2019-10-07T11:03:42","modified_gmt":"2019-10-07T03:03:42","slug":"jordanian-govt-teachers-association-ink-pact-to-end-month-long-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=45259","title":{"rendered":"Jordanian Gov&#8217;t, Teachers Association Ink Pact To End Month-Long Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>AMMAN, Oct 7 (NNN-PETRA) &#8211; Jordan&#8217;s government and the Jordan Teachers Association, signed an agreement, to increase basic salaries of teachers, to end a month-long strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the agreement, different ranks of teachers will receive 35 percent, 40 percent, 50 percent and 65 percent salary increases, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement also stipulates that, a training academy, affiliated with the association, is to be recognised as among institutions accredited by the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total cost of the raise in teachers&#8217; salaries amounts to around 90 million U.S. dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement stipulates increasing the allowances for teachers, who monitor the Tawjihi (the general secondary education certificate examination) and correct exam papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pact also allows teachers to receive treatment at military hospitals, at the same cost as public hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government and the association finalised the deal on Saturday, to end the strike that started on Sept 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association labeled the deal as &#8220;historic,&#8221; voicing appreciation for the government&#8217;s efforts to end the strike.&#8211; NNN-PETRA  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AMMAN, Oct 7 (NNN-PETRA) &#8211; Jordan&#8217;s government and the Jordan Teachers Association, signed an agreement, to increase basic salaries of teachers, to end a month-long strike.
