PUTRAJAYA, Oct 3 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysia on Thursday launched a new Security and Public Order Policy (DKKA) to ensure the continued security and public order of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DKKA launched today is formulated based on the development of current global security issues, said Malaysia’s Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the policy was aimed at improving strategies and national security measures that had been restructured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new policy will also replace the Internal Security Policy as part of efforts to streamline existing procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDKKA has six core areas and 21 strategies including a provision for the Home Ministry to set up a high-level committee which will be chaired by me together with top officers as well as relevant agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is for us to ensure the strategies that have been formulated can be implemented in order to ensure that our country will remain safe and problems related to public order can be effectively addressed,” he told a press conference after the launch of DKKA at the Home Ministry Complex here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launching the policy here today, Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the policy has been aimed to make people feel safe in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DKKA will also ensure that Malaysia remains a sovereign, peaceful, prosperous and respected nation in the world arena while keeping the people united and safeguarding national interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that although Malaysia can take pride in being the 16th out of 163 countries in the Global Peace Index 2019<\/em>, what is more important is the reduction of criminal cases in the country so that the people can feel they are safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis policy is designed to be a guide and reference to address various ever-challenging issues in the security and public order sector.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the DKKA was timely in view of the complex security threats faced by the country and which were difficult to address through conventional means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
