LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Sept 26 (NNN-XINHUA) – At least seven people were wounded as a blast ripped through election campaign office of Afghan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in Lashkar Gah city, capital of southern Helmand province, a local source said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An improvised explosive device was detonated inside the office of national parliament member, Ghulam Wali Afghan, roughly at 1:30 p.m. local time, in Police District 1 of the city, a security source said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The building also acts as sitting president, Ghani’s election campaign office, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, a medical source from a surgical hospital in Lashkar Gah, said that, seven people were admitted to the hospital after the explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unofficial sources said, lawmaker, Wali Afghan, also received minor wounds in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Omar Zwak, the provincial government spokesman, confirmed the incident, saying, an investigation has been initiated into the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Tuesday, three people, including a local journalist, were killed and seven people wounded, after an IED was detonated outside an election campaign office for Ghani, in neighbouring Kandahar province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wednesday (yesterday) was the last day of the election campaign for the Sept 28 presidential elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 18 contenders were registered to run for the presidency, with a five-year term, and among the candidates are sitting President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and government Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
