{"id":39948,"date":"2019-08-30T12:23:31","date_gmt":"2019-08-30T04:23:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=39948"},"modified":"2019-08-30T12:23:33","modified_gmt":"2019-08-30T04:23:33","slug":"perdana-botanical-gardens-now-a-complete-recreational-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=39948","title":{"rendered":"Perdana Botanical Gardens now a complete recreational park"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today opened two facilities at the 131-year-old Perdana Botanical Gardens, making it a complete recreational park with elements of research, education and conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prime minister planted an evergreen&nbsp;<em>Kembang Semangkuk<\/em>&nbsp;(<em>Scaphium linearicarpum<\/em>) sapling as a symbolic gesture of the opening of the Visitors Complex and Ethnobotany Park as the added attractions of the gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Mahathir, accompanied by Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh and Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, went on a tour of the facilities and was given a briefing on the transformation of the park that was opened in 1888.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two facilities are the final elements of the second-phase upgrading of the botanical gardens, and were completed last April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Visitors Complex houses a herbarium as a research centre; an interpretation centre as an information centre; a briefing room and a souvenir shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;NNN-BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today opened two facilities at the 131-year-old Perdana Botanical Gardens, making it a complete recreational park with elements of research, education and conservation.
