{"id":39186,"date":"2019-08-25T11:46:28","date_gmt":"2019-08-25T03:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=39186"},"modified":"2019-08-25T11:46:30","modified_gmt":"2019-08-25T03:46:30","slug":"peru-is-worlds-second-largest-organic-coffee-exporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=39186","title":{"rendered":"Peru is world&#8217;s second-largest organic coffee exporter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/portal.andina.pe\/EDPfotografia2\/Thumbnail\/2012\/09\/07\/000190874W.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: rgb(232, 234, 235);\">LIMA, Aug 25 (NNN-ANDINA) &#8212; Peru remains the second-largest organic coffee exporter of the world and the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-becomes-main-organic-coffee-exporter-to-us-754120.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">main exporter of this bean to the United States<\/a>, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, certified coffee shipments totaled 1.021 million quintals, of which around 90% were organic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez, the quantity of consumers \u2014who prefer 100% organic and specialty coffees\u2014 continues to grow, a trend that must be taken advantage of in order to consolidate the position of this Peruvian beverage under the logo:\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.peru.travel\/en-us\/gastronomy\/peruvian-products\/coffee.html\" target=\"_blank\">Coffees from Peru<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, the official recalled the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-coffees-from-peru-presented-to-conquer-global-market-720509.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Coffees from Peru brand<\/a>\u00a0represents all the types of coffee produced in the Inca country that are characterized by their\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-cultivation-and-processing-of-high-quality-coffee-723088.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">outstanding quality<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-get-to-know-punos-specialty-coffees-demanded-in-europe-and-us-709453.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Specialty coffee exports<\/a>\u00a0represent a great opportunity, as their prices are usually between 20% and 40% higher than the ones listed in the stock exchange,&#8221; he expressed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres said the Inca nation has a great export potential in markets such as Finland, Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, as these countries are among the largest coffee consumers in the world and value the origin of the product.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, he pointed out Asia is an important market to take into account, as it represented a total market of US$15.821 million last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coffees from Peru brand is aimed at contributing to the proper positioning of this important national product worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be noted total Peruvian coffee exports reached US$682 million in 2018.\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-becomes-main-organic-coffee-exporter-to-us-754120.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">The main destinations were the United States<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-perus-organic-coffee-exported-to-germany-belgium-735543.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Germany, Belgium<\/a>, Sweden, and\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-perus-organic-coffee-reaches-canada-us-markets-734774.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a>.\u00a0&#8212; NNN-ANDINA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LIMA, Aug 25 (NNN-ANDINA) &#8212; Peru remains the second-largest organic coffee exporter of the world and the main exporter of this bean to the United States, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) said.
