{"id":36095,"date":"2019-08-04T10:50:21","date_gmt":"2019-08-04T02:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=36095"},"modified":"2019-08-04T10:52:51","modified_gmt":"2019-08-04T02:52:51","slug":"syrias-first-lady-recovers-from-breast-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=36095","title":{"rendered":"Syria&#8217;s First Lady Recovers From Breast Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>DAMASCUS, Syria, Aug 4 (NNN-SANA) &#8211; Syria&#8217;s First Lady, Asma al-Assad, declared on Saturday, her full recovery from breast cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My journey with cancer is over,&#8221; the First Lady said, during a televised interview with the Syrian state TV, aired Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 43-year-old Asma said, her journey with the medical treatment passed, with the support of her children and husband, President Bashar al-Assad, who has been seen with her in footages, documenting her treatment in the capital, Damascus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al-Assad also hailed the medical care provided in Syria, saying that, after eight years of war, the country is still capable of providing qualitative treatment for cancer patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The First Lady started treatment for breast cancer in Aug, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time, the presidential media office stated that, al-Assad has started her preliminary treatment of a malignant tumour that had been discovered at an early stage in the breast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Born and raised to a Syrian family in London, al-Assad graduated from King&#8217;s College, London, in 1996, with a bachelor&#8217;s degree in computer science and French literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She had a career in investment banking and was set to begin an MBA at Harvard University, when she married Bashar al-Assad in Dec, 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her life as First Lady, Asma al-Assad has supervised several projects in the country, creating a collection of organisations that functioned under the charity sector of the government, referred to as the Syrian Trust for Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basma is one of the charity organisations, the First Lady created, which takes care of children with cancer.&#8211; NNN-SANA   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria, Aug 4 (NNN-SANA) &#8211; Syria&#8217;s First Lady, Asma al-Assad, declared on Saturday, her full recovery from breast cancer. &#8220;My journey with cancer is over,&#8221; the First Lady said, during a televised interview with the Syrian state TV, aired Saturday.
