MOSCOW, Russia, July 24 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Russian Foreign Minister, Serguei Lavrov, expressed hope, in Latin America’s rejection of U.S. aggression against Venezuela, and called for dialogue in that country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We never stopped the dialogue about the situation in Venezuela, we always talk with all representatives of the political sphere of the country – with the government and with the opponents,” the Russian FM said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lavrov recalled that, at the beginning, there were initiatives, such as the so-called International Contact Group, fostered by the European Union, which was forged on the basis of ultimate and that, if early elections were held, everything would be fine, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was a Montevideo mechanism, with Bolivia, Mexico, Uruguay, and Caricom, in favour of the government and the opposition initiating a dialogue and reaching an agreement between them, without preconditions, said the head of Russian diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such a position has a greater perspective and is more in line with the norms of international law, said Lavrov, who begins this day, a tour of Latin America, that includes Cuba, Brazil and Suriname.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
