{"id":33136,"date":"2019-07-16T11:17:40","date_gmt":"2019-07-16T03:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=33136"},"modified":"2019-07-16T11:45:32","modified_gmt":"2019-07-16T03:45:32","slug":"british-pm-theresa-may-condemns-us-pres-trumps-go-home-remark-to-congresswomen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=33136","title":{"rendered":"British, New Zealand PMs condemns US Pres Trump&#8217;s &#8216;go home&#8217; remark to congresswomen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>LONDON\/Wellington, July 16 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; British Prime Minister Theresa May has criticised US President Donald Trump for calling on several Democratic congresswomen of colour to &#8220;go home&#8221;.<br><br>The outgoing PM called Trump&#8217;s words &#8220;completely unacceptable&#8221;, according to her spokesperson.<br><br>Trump said the women &#8220;originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe&#8221;.<br><br>He was referring to four congresswomen &#8211; three who were born in the US and one who came as a child refugee.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The women &#8211; Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, and Ilhan Omar, who came to the US as a refugee aged 12 &#8211; all called the president racist and were been backed by members of the Democratic Party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nThe president wrote: &#8220;So interesting to see &#8216;progressive&#8217; Democrat congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful nation on earth, how our government is to be run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Why don&#8217;t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prospective Democratic presidential candidates denounced Trump&#8217;s tweets as racist and divisive. Republican Party representatives kept quiet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May resigned as UK prime minister in June after being unable to get a Brexit deal through parliament. Two candidates in the governing Conservative Party are currently vying to replace her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In WELLINGTON, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern joined international condemnation of Trump\u2019s xenophobic tweets about progressive Democrat congresswomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardern, the charismatic young leader who has been hailed as \u201cthe anti-Trump\u201d by US media, said she proudly celebrated her country\u2019s diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUsually I don\u2019t get into other people\u2019s politics, but it will be clear to most people that I completely and utterly disagree with him,\u201d Ardern told Radio New Zealand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardern said New Zealanders welcomed diversity in the corridors of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe take the view that our parliament should be a representative place, it should look and feel like New Zealand, it should have a range of different cultures and ethnicities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd never should a judgement be made about the origin of anyone, and their right, therefore, to be in parliament as a representative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canadian leader Justin Trudeau have also condemned the tweets. &#8212; NNN-AGENCIES<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON\/Wellington, July 16 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; British Prime Minister Theresa May has criticised US President Donald Trump for calling on several Democratic congresswomen of colour to &#8220;go home&#8221;.
