{"id":321400,"date":"2026-01-04T12:20:56","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T04:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=321400"},"modified":"2026-01-04T12:25:43","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T04:25:43","slug":"worker-dies-in-north-east-australian-mine-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=321400","title":{"rendered":"Worker Dies In North-East Australian Mine Collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SYDNEY, Jan 4 (NNN-AAP) &#8211; Authorities found the body of a missing worker, after a coal mine collapsed, in the north-east Australian state of Queensland, on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An emergency search and rescue operation was launched for a missing man, after the collapse at the underground mine, at the Curragh complex, more than 600 km north-west of Brisbane, in central Queensland, around 3:00 p.m. local time on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tony Perrett, the state government&#8217;s acting minister for mines, confirmed that, emergency responders located the deceased worker last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that, specialist teams had worked through the night, to stabilise the site and access the missing man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Tragically, that worker could not be saved,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A second worker, who was safely recovered on Friday, was taken to hospital as a precaution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Curragh mine site is owned by metallurgical coal producer, Coronado Global Resources, and is operated by Mammoth Underground Mine Management, which said in a statement that, it would fully support an investigation into the collapse.&#8211; NNN-AAP &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SYDNEY, Jan 4 (NNN-AAP) &#8211; Authorities found the body of a missing worker, after a coal mine collapsed, in the north-east Australian state of Queensland, on Friday afternoon.
