{"id":32126,"date":"2019-07-10T11:59:23","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T03:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=32126"},"modified":"2019-07-10T12:02:21","modified_gmt":"2019-07-10T04:02:21","slug":"us-china-negotiators-resume-trade-war-talks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=32126","title":{"rendered":"US, China negotiators resume trade war talks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/nlb86av8.jpg\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/nlb86av8.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>WASHINGTON, July 10 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; Top US and Chinese negotiators held phone talks on Tuesday as the world\u2019s top two economies seek to resolve their trade war, more than a week after they declared a truce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talks had broken down in May over US accusations that Beijing had reneged on its commitments, and the dispute escalated with the two sides exchanging steep increases in punitive tariffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping agreed to revive negotiations when they met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan on June 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer spoke with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and Commerce Minister Zhong Shan on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told reporters the talks \u201cwent constructively\u201d but it was \u201ctoo soon for details.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with the Fox Business Network, Kudlow described the discussions as \u201cpreliminary\u201d and said meetings will \u201cprobably\u201d be arranged, but did not give more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chinese commerce ministry said in a brief statement that the two sides exchanged \u201copinions on implementing the consensus reached between the two countries\u2019 heads of state in Osaka.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kudlow suggested that the US was in no hurry to finalize a deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSpeed is not an issue, quality is the issue,\u201d Kudlow said. \u201cAnd so I make no forecast on that and reiterate this view.
