{"id":319339,"date":"2025-12-09T09:10:55","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T01:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=319339"},"modified":"2025-12-09T09:20:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T01:20:31","slug":"fitch-affirms-malaysias-rating-at-bbb-with-stable-outlook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=319339","title":{"rendered":"Fitch Affirms Malaysia&#8217;s Rating At &#8220;BBB+&#8221; With Stable Outlook"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8211; Fitch Ratings has affirmed Malaysia&#8217;s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating (IDR) at &#8220;BBB+&#8221; with a stable outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rating agency said in a statement yesterday, the ratings are supported by strong medium-term growth prospects and persistent current account surpluses, with a diversified export base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These strengths are balanced against high public debt, a lower revenue base, and weaker external liquidity relative to peers. &#8220;The stable outlook reflects our expectation that, the government debt-to-gross domestic product ratio will decline only gradually over the medium term, underpinned by the government&#8217;s commitment to fiscal consolidation,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Fitch expects Malaysia&#8217;s economy to expand by 4.6 percent this year, easing to four percent next year, and 4.2 percent in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firm labour market conditions and rising wages are supporting household spending, with momentum likely to carry into 2026, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Fitch, Malaysia&#8217;s approved investment projects rose by 13.2 percent year-on-year, in the first nine months of this year, pointing to a strong pipeline, especially in artificial intelligence-related capex, in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exports surprised on the upside this year, on the global tech upcycle and front-loading, but are likely to soften next year, as front-loading fades, it added.&#8211; NNN-BERNAMA   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8211; Fitch Ratings has affirmed Malaysia&#8217;s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating (IDR) at &#8220;BBB+&#8221; with a stable outlook.
