{"id":29024,"date":"2019-06-18T10:18:41","date_gmt":"2019-06-18T02:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=29024"},"modified":"2019-06-18T10:18:44","modified_gmt":"2019-06-18T02:18:44","slug":"u-s-trump-cuts-aid-to-central-america-over-migration-warns-millions-will-be-deported","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=29024","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Trump Cuts Aid to Central America Over Migration, Warns Millions Will Be Deported"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WASHINGTON, June 18 (NNN-TELESUR) &#8211;  United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump\u2019s administration on Monday slashed around US$550 million in aid to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras due to thousands of their citizens seeking asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs feared, a presidential tantrum will limit our nation\u2019s ability to actually help address the challenges forcing people to flee to the U.S.,\u201d Democratic Senator Bob Menendez said on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congressional aides affirmed the administration told them US$370 million in aid to Central America, that lawmakers had approved for fiscal 2018, would be relocated, and that an additional US$180 million for fiscal 2017 would be suspended. On March, Trump\u00a0warned\u00a0his administration would cut these funds.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not paying them anymore because they haven\u2019t done a thing for us,\u201d the U.S. head of state said in regards to his \u201cdislike\u201d of the three nation\u2019s migration policies.
