{"id":28961,"date":"2019-06-18T07:57:33","date_gmt":"2019-06-17T23:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=28961"},"modified":"2019-06-18T07:57:35","modified_gmt":"2019-06-17T23:57:35","slug":"strong-connectivity-between-malaysia-and-thailand-attracts-more-investmen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=28961","title":{"rendered":"Strong connectivity between Malaysia and Thailand attracts more investmen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/thai.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28963\" srcset=\"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/thai.png 600w, http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/thai-300x200.png 300w, http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/thai-598x400.png 598w, http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/thai-555x370.png 555w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p> BUKIT KAYU HITAM, June 18 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; It is vital to improve connectivity between Malaysia and Thailand to attract more foreign direct investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Marzuki Yahya said having shared a common border, the strong connectivity will enhance industrialization efforts as well as accelerate the process of economic growth of both countries.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Seamless connectivity at our border would facilitate regional integration within ASEAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This would complement ongoing efforts to realise an integrated ASEAN Community,&#8221; he said after the launching ceremony of the 24-hour Operation of Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Bukit Kayu Hitam and Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Sadao starting from midnight tonight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said on bilateral relations between both countries, Malaysia and Thailand have strong bilateral cooperation in various sectors including trade and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For example, trade between our two countries continue to increase steadily, Thailand is Malaysia\u2019s fifth largest trading partner globally and second largest trading partner among ASEAN member states,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Chaisiri Anaman said this initiative will further facilitate cross-border trade and logistics, lessen traffic congestion at the checkpoint, and facilitate around-the-clock coordination between border control agencies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This undertaking will also boost the volume of cross-border trade between Thailand and Malaysia because a significant share of this trade already passes through the Sadao &#8211; Bukit Kayu Hitam Checkpoint,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From today, the 24-hour operations will be conducted for a three-month trial period, involving only cargo and goods movement carried by trucks and heavy vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two governments have also agreed to establish an evaluation team to gauge the effectiveness of the 24-hour operations during the 3-month trial period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> NNN-Bernama <br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BUKIT KAYU HITAM, June 18 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; It is vital to improve connectivity between Malaysia and Thailand to attract more foreign direct investments.
