Photo courtesy of BERNAMA.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>MELAKA, June 10\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Civil servants must have the necessary\u00a0knowledge and\u00a0skills to stay relevant\u00a0in facing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), says Prime Minister\u00a0Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the call made by the Malaysian premier, Melaka Corporation\u00a0Holdings manager Norazlina Othman, 34, said civil servants should be proactive by enhancing\u00a0technology-related knowledge and skills in preparation for IR 4.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSkills and knowledge in information technology are crucial to enable civil servants to fully utilise all the technological facilities, thereby improving the concept of public service delivery which comes with&nbsp; increasingly complex challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is because civil servants have always been the backbone of the government administration with a big influence on the people as a policy implementation machinery and a government service provider,\u201d she told Bernama here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, when Dr Mahathir delivered his keynote address at the Prime Minister&#8217;s Gathering With Melaka State Civil Servants&nbsp;he called on civil servants to prepare themselves with the latest knowledge and skills to face IR 4.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was attended by Melaka Chief Minister Adly Zahari, State Secretary Datuk Hashim Hasan and state executive councillors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present was Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ridzuan Md Yusof who is also Alor Gajah member of Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharing the same opinion, Melaka River and Coastal Development Corporation Human Resources manager Khairunnisa Ibno Massooda, 36, said government agencies and departments needed to respond to the Prime Minister\u2019s call, including employing new civil servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBesides, existing civil servants also need to set good examples besides taking courses and training in preparation for the IR 4.0,\u201d&nbsp;she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Nur Atiqah Rashid, 32, administrative officer at the Melaka Chief Minister\u2019s Department, said that as the frontline of the government, civil servants have to be ready to tackle this wave of transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCivil servants work should also incorporate the IR 4.0 elements, which will change the way people work and live in the future,\u201d&nbsp;she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MELAKA, June 10\u00a0(NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; Civil servants must have the necessary\u00a0knowledge and\u00a0skills to stay relevant\u00a0in facing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), says Prime Minister\u00a0Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
