{"id":280671,"date":"2024-10-24T11:32:04","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T03:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=280671"},"modified":"2024-10-24T11:32:05","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T03:32:05","slug":"sudan-crisis-army-announces-retaking-of-strategic-city-al-dinder-in-central-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=280671","title":{"rendered":"Sudan crisis: Army announces retaking of strategic city Al-Dinder in central Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KHARTOUM, Oct 24 (NNN-XINHUA) &#8212; The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced that it has retaken the strategic city of Al-Dinder in central Sudan from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after five days of fierce battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Security and reassurance have returned after the Sudanese army entered the city and cleaned it from the militia,&#8221; the SAF&#8217;s military media said on its Facebook account, adding the army is &#8220;making efforts on all fronts&#8221; in the fight against the RSF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al-Dinder city, some 25 km east of Singa, the capital city of Sinnar state, is considered to be a strategic location linking Sinnar and Blue Nile states with eastern Sudan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 5, the RSF took control of the city after engaging in battles with the SAF and its allied movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Oct. 5, the SAF said it had retaken the strategic Jebel Moya area in Sinnar, a crossroads linking Gezira, White Nile, and Sinnar states. The recapture of Jebel Moya enabled the SAF to besiege the RSF fighters in Sinnar and cut off their supply lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sudan has been ravaged by a deadly conflict between the SAF and the RSF since mid-April 2023.
