{"id":265191,"date":"2024-05-27T09:32:56","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T01:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=265191"},"modified":"2024-05-27T09:32:57","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T01:32:57","slug":"perus-government-recognized-internationally-for-sustainable-bond-issuance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=265191","title":{"rendered":"Peru&#8217;s Government recognized internationally for sustainable bond issuance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/portal.andina.pe\/EDPfotografia3\/Thumbnail\/2022\/01\/05\/000837127W.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: ANDINA\/Jhonel Rodr\u00edguez Robles\" width=\"539\" height=\"359\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>LIMA, May 27 (NNN-ANDINA) &#8212; The Peruvian Government has been awarded the prestigious &#8220;The Just Transition Trailblazer Award&#8221; at the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.climatebonds.net\/2024\/05\/driving-change-winners-9th-climate-bonds-awards\" target=\"_blank\">9th Climate Bonds Awards<\/a>\u00a0\u2014organized by the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.climatebonds.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Climate Bonds Initiative<\/a>\u2014 in recognition of its outstanding issuance of sustainable sovereign bonds and its commitment to a fair, inclusive, and environmentally-responsible economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\u00a0<strong>prize is granted to Peru for the issuance of its fourth sustainable bond carried out in June 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was the\u00a0<strong>first sustainable bond in local currency worth 16.358 billion (about US$4.379 billion) issued by the South American country<\/strong>, which\u00a0<strong>strengthened public debt management and domestic capital market revitalization, reaffirming Peru&#8217;s commitments towards a fairer and more inclusive economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our commitment to a fair and sustainable transition is reflected in this historic issuance as it is a sustainable sovereign bond in local currency,&#8221;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gob.pe\/institucion\/mef\/funcionarios\/143714-betty-armida-sotelo-bazan\" target=\"_blank\">Peru&#8217;s Deputy Finance Minister Betty Sotelo<\/a>\u00a0highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have the firm conviction of continuing to channel resources in order to address economic, environmental, and social challenges, proving that Peru remains on its path towards a more inclusive and responsible future,&#8221;<em>\u00a0<\/em>she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Peru&#8217;s just transition policies include enhancing social support programs, boosting economic growth, and adopting digitalization as an engine of productivity,<em>\u00a0<\/em>with the\u00a0aim of moving towards an environmentally-responsible economy in the most fair and inclusive manner for all Peruvians.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.climatebonds.net\/2024\/05\/driving-change-winners-9th-climate-bonds-awards\" target=\"_blank\">Climate Bonds Initiative<\/a>\u00a0acknowledges the contributions of emerging markets, financial institutions, and governments that have been instrumental in advancing the market over the past year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2016, the Climate Bonds Initiative has awarded over 235 organizations, financial institutions, and governments that have proven leadership through financing climate-resilient and low-carbon projects across a wide range of industries and economic sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s categories include Leadership Amongst Sovereign Bonds Issuers, Social and Sustainable Debt Instrument, and Green Debt Instrument. &#8212; NNN-ANDINA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LIMA, May 27 (NNN-ANDINA) &#8212; The Peruvian Government has been awarded the prestigious &#8220;The Just Transition Trailblazer Award&#8221; at the\u00a09th Climate Bonds Awards\u00a0\u2014organized by the\u00a0Climate Bonds Initiative\u2014 in recognition of its outstanding issuance of sustainable sovereign bonds and its commitment to a fair, inclusive, and environmentally-responsible economy.
