{"id":261154,"date":"2024-04-18T16:17:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T08:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=261154"},"modified":"2024-04-18T16:17:01","modified_gmt":"2024-04-18T08:17:01","slug":"malaysia-eyes-expansion-plans-for-mihas-in-emerging-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=261154","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia Eyes Expansion Plans For MIHAS In Emerging Markets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 (Bernama) &#8212;&nbsp;The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is mapping out its business opportunities expansion plans&nbsp;by introducing the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) to the emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman Reezal Merican Naina Merican said this aligns with its&nbsp;vision of fostering international partnerships and promoting Malaysian products to a broader audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thoughtfully mapping out our expansion plans beyond Dubai to explore&nbsp;opportunities to introduce MIHAS to markets such as China, Europe and Central Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy expanding into these regions, we strive to create new opportunities for trade and cooperation, propelling MIHAS to unprecedented heights,\u201d he said in his welcoming remarks at MIHAS soft launch&nbsp;today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MATRADE is organising&nbsp;MIHAS@Dubai (Nov 18-20, 2024) and aims to achieve sales totalling RM1 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said&nbsp;MIHAS@Dubai is a testament to its commitment to Malaysia\u2019s branding. It is hoped that MIHAS@Dubai will become an avenue to elevate Malaysia\u2019s reputation as a leading nation in the global halal sphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reezal Merican said the MIHAS&nbsp;20th edition, which will have&nbsp;2,000 exhibition booths from 45 countries including Malaysia,&nbsp;aims to attract over 40,000 trade visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Themed \u201cGlobalising Halal Innovations\u201d, the event&nbsp;showcases the&nbsp;most innovative halal products, services and technologies through 14 curated clusters including halal ingredients as the latest cluster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the elements of innovation and sustainability will be showcased in the products and services promoted during MIHAS 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese product segments include pharmaceuticals, Islamic finance, fintech, lifestyle, modest fashion, food ingredients and related services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the exhibition, 500 international buyers are expected to participate in the International Sourcing Programme,&nbsp;including 20 premium buyers in pre-arranged&nbsp;meetings, to be held virtually or physically, with Malaysian exporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI)&nbsp;Minister Tengku&nbsp;Zafrul Abdul Aziz said&nbsp;the halal industry is one of MITI\u2019s top priorities&nbsp;and MIHAS is one of the most effective platforms to connect halal businesses&nbsp;around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast year was a record-breaking achievement for MITI and MATRADE with RM3.20 billion worth of sales reported by participants underscoring&nbsp;MIHAS as&nbsp;the leader in global halal trade,\u201d he said during his virtual speech at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MIHAS 2024 is&nbsp;hosted by MITI&nbsp;and organised by MATRADE.
